The good news is that I’m working up toward piloting a video series called “The Loop,” which was one of my main motivations for starting this website at all. What will it be about, you ask? I tragically do not know, which is the bad news, and why I’m stressed-out-venting to you all right now.
I’ll be honest with you, Internet. Getting started on a new project is hard, scary, and unbelievably discouraging in ways that I did not foresee.
My largest problem is that I’m having trouble focussing my vision. I’ve always been really passionate about important, interpretive and analytical journalism, but I’m not sure what areas of coverage are going to be best for the audience I want to build, and the reputation I want to establish for myself.
I also don’t want to spend time making videos about topics that I’m not really passionate about. I’m not in the business of convincing anyone to care about something I don’t already think is worth your time.
So, while I take some time to evaluate my interests and priorities, I think this an opportunity for some wisdom:
Your time is precious, a thing to be valued. If you decide to spend it working for free, make sure it’s on something that matters to you.
I’ll try to post a couple more things tomorrow. Thanks for the patience, y’all.
